- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content
- Understand how readers use the Site, which articles are helpful, and how the Site performs
- Respond to your messages, questions, and correction requests
- Send newsletters and updates you’ve subscribed to (you can unsubscribe at any time)

3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site and to measure site performance. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages visited, session duration, device and browser details, and approximate location. This information is aggregated and helps us improve our content and user experience.
You can learn how Google uses this data at Google’s Privacy and Terms page, and you can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4. Advertising
The Site is supported by display advertising. We currently work with Adsterra and may work with other advertising networks in the future. These third-party advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to serve ads, measure their performance, and, in some cases, show ads based on your interests.
We do not control the cookies or tracking technologies used by advertising partners, and their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies. A current list of our advertising partners is maintained in this section and will be updated when we add or remove networks:
- Adsterra (Privacy Policy)
To opt out of interest-based advertising from many participating companies, visit:
Opting out does not mean you’ll stop seeing ads. It means the ads you see may be less relevant to your interests.
5. Affiliate Links
Some articles contain affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, the retailer may use cookies to record that you came from Girls On It so we can earn a commission. We don’t receive your payment details or your full purchase history from these retailers. Their handling of your data is covered by their own privacy policies.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these situations:
- Service providers: Companies that help us run the Site, such as our hosting and content delivery providers, email delivery services, analytics providers, and form tools. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Advertising and analytics partners: As described in Sections 3 and 4, these partners collect information through cookies and similar technologies. Under some state privacy laws, this may be considered “selling” or “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising. See Section 8 for your choices.
- Legal reasons: When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers: If Girls On It is sold, merged, or transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
7. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Emails are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of our correspondence. Newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of our analytics provider.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Rights for residents of California and other U.S. states
Depending on where you live, including California (under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) and states such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have collected about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and of targeted advertising
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity before completing your request. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, and we may ask for proof of that authorization. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with “Appeal” in the subject line.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising, you can:
- Email [email protected] with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share”
- Use the NAI and DAA opt-out tools listed in Section 4
- Enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We treat a valid GPC signal as an opt-out request for that browser.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described above.
Email preferences
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any email. Under the CAN-SPAM Act, we will process your request promptly.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Links to Other Websites
Our articles link to retailers, manufacturers, and other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add a new advertising partner or analytics tool. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
